Michael Owen
RISD '90 [Painting]
Michael Owen is a Providence-based painter whose photo realistic oil
paintings of iconic American images celebrate this country’s innocent
heyday. The immediately appealing shapes and surfaces of these classic
automobiles are, for him, a symbol of a time that is rapidly fading
into memory. Owen received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design
in 1990 and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art in 2000. His work
was featured in “New American Paintings” #68 in 2007. He is represented
by the George Billis Gallery in New York and Los Angeles.
