Andrea Valentini

After a successful career as an interior architect (and winning several awards) Andrea Valentini (www.andreavalentini.com) shifted her focus from space to objects. In search of humanistic characteristics hidden beneath the surfaces of industrial materials, she began manipulating and redefining their utilitarian perceptions by translating her discoveries and ideas into functional sculptural objects. Valentini was one of 80 designers chosen by the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum to participate in their 2003 Triennial, Inside Design Now, and was nominated for a national design award in the category of product design in 2003. In 2001 Interior Design Magazine’s “Future Furniture” competition recognized her Coosh Egg Chair. Valentini’s work has been published in The New York Times, I.D., Surface and Dwell and her client list includes Herman Miller, Target and the W Hotel/Seoul.
