An inveterate tinker and inventor, David Dear dreams up products with a sense of humor — never sacrificing sensible design, of course. He has translated his knack for whimsy into award-winning products such as a clock made from the familiar Will Return sign, a Fly Clock made from a real fly swatter replete with fake housefly and the sublimely silly Duck Mirror (all produced by Kikkerland). With their clever simplicity, his products have been featured in Vogue, New York and Time, among other publications. Dear is principal of G2, a brand identity and design firm in New York City, and is represented in gift shops and museum stores worldwide.
