With an extraordinary sense of humor and wit, David Wiesner ’78 IL captivates both parents and young readers alike with his wondrous picture books. In 2007 he became the second person in history to win a third Caldecott Medal, and was also selected as the US nominee for the 2008 Hans Brinker Anderson Illustrator’s Award. Wiesner won his most recent Caldecott for Flotsam (2006), preceded by a 2002 Caldecott Medal for his ingenious recounting of The Three Pigs and another in 1992 for Tuesday, a fanciful account of flying frogs.
