Amy Bahrt runs her own knitting business, Amy Bahrt Designs of Manhattan, where she creates patterns for Vogue Knitting, Family Circle Easy Knitting, Women’s Day and Knit-it. She recently published many of her ideas in the how-to book Creature Comforts: Cozy Knits for Wee Ones (2005). Bahrt’s handknit, limited-edition scarves, sweaters, hats, blankets and pillows — all inspired by animals — are also available at Barneys, ABC Carpet & Home, Bergdorf Goodman and the Frank J. Miele Gallery store. When not knitting, Bahrt is training for the New York City marathon, which she runs each year.
