Linda Yesline established the handbag and accessories company Aster+Sage (www.asterandsage.com) soon after completing her studies in industrial design. Starting with durable, textural wool and corduroy, she builds each one-of-a-kind bag as a sculptural object and a canvas for embellishment with embroidery and appliqué. Her interest in handbag construction was sparked at RISD, where she explored the sculptural uses of fabric; surface decoration with appliqué, she says, is a natural progression from her early handiwork with construction paper, scissors and glue. Yesline pieces and embellishes all Aster+Sage bags by hand in her studio in Rumford, RI, and sells them through specialty stores across the US and Japan.
