Laura Zindel

RISD ‘85 [Ceramics]
The simple shapes of Laura Zindel’s ceramic platters provide the perfect background for the decoration that is her true passion: finely detailed patterns inspired by folk art, textiles, still life painting and engravings of the natural world. She  starts with handbuilt, nontoxic glazed pieces and uses a photo silkscreen technique to apply original illustrations, finishing by refiring the tableware to make the surface embellishment permanent. Zindel is a ceramics instructor at City College of San Francisco and has been a guest lecturer and visiting artist elsewhere. She exhibits frequently in galleries  and museums across the US, Asia and India.
