Widely admired for his mastery of technique, Boyd Sugiki hand-blows colorful fine art glassware in Seattle, WA, where he is affiliated with Pilchuck Glass School as a teacher and exhibiting artist. Following his undergraduate years at California College of Arts and Crafts and further award-funded work at Pilchuck, he came to RISD to study with Bruce Chao [RISD ’73/MFA ’75, Glass] and Michael Scheiner [RISD ’80, Sculpture]. He earned an award of excellence with his MFA and has since won numerous awards from Pilchuck, Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle and Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, WA.
