Boyd Sugiki
RISD ’96 [Glass]
Widely admired for his mastery of technique, Boyd Sugiki hand-blows colorful fine art glassware in Seattle, WA, where he is affiliated with Pilchuck Glass School as a teacher and exhibiting artist. Following his undergraduate years at California College of Arts and Crafts and further award-funded work at Pilchuck, he came to RISD to study with Bruce Chao [RISD ’73/MFA ’75, Glass] and Michael Scheiner [RISD ’80, Sculpture]. He earned an award of excellence with his MFA and has since won numerous awards from Pilchuck, Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle and Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, WA. Sugiki frequently serves as a visiting instructor at institutions throughout the country and has exhibited recently at the American Craft Museum, the Seattle Center on Contemporary Art and several West Coast galleries.
