Lisa Albin
RISD '90 [Bachelor of Architecture]
For the first 10 years out of school, Lisa Albin worked in New York designing residential interiors and architectural and interior projects for Pearce Allen. A seminar at Haystack Mt. School of Crafts in Maine, combined with her fascination with how her two young daughters interact with the world, inspired her to turn to children’s furniture design. Albin launched Iglooplay in 2005 and has since attracted substantial media attention and earned several awards for the line. “The designs respond to the idea that child development flourishes from contact with sculptural forms, material variation and color,” she says.Through her Brooklyn-based design practice, Lisa Albin Design, she continues to do interior and furniture design work and also develops proposals for grade school classrooms.
