RISD ’95 [Film/Animation/Video]
Seth MacFarlane had been out of RISD for just four years when his animated series Family Guy premiered in a prime-time spot on Fox. In addition to writing and directing the show (and getting in lots of gentle jabs at Rhode Island along the way), MacFarlane provided voices for several of the characters — including the inimitable Stewie Griffin, a role that won him an Emmy in 2000. He shared a second Emmy for music and lyrics with composer Walter Murphy in 2002. Between RISD and Family Guy MacFarlane worked for Hanna-Barbera Productions (now Cartoon Network Studios) as a writer and animator on the series Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken, and on Jungle Club for Walt Disney Animation.
